SCNU's first China-Russia Culture Week kicked off on June 11, 2018 with the opening ceremony on the Shipai Campus. Distinguished guests in the event included Prof. Wu Jian, Vice President of SCNU; Mr. Ilya Chubarov, Cultural Attache of the Russian Consulate in Guangzhou; and Mr. Liu Weining, Vice Chairman of the Russian Federation of Asian Industrial Entrepreneurs. Professors from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Sun Yat-Sen University and Private Hualian College, along with the heads of several departments of SCNU attended the ceremony.
The China-Russia Culture Week was jointly hosted by the Department of Russia, School of Foreign Studies alongside with the College of International Cultures, and SCNU's Office of International Exchange and Cooperation, and SCNU library.
During the Culture Week, a series of themed activities were held, covering the areas of music, art, film/filming, literature, university life, career development, and so forth. Students both within and without SCNU, former graduates from the SCNU Russian Department as well as international friends participated in the activities. The Week closed on June 16.
China and Russia are two strong nations that can boast of their long history and splendid civilizations. Both countries have great economic and military influence in the world today. Recent years have witnessed improving relationships between the two countries. The culture week adds impetus to China-Russia relationships and SCNU's educational exchange and cooperation with Russian partners.
