The Forum of Japanese Literature Studies, hosted by the Japanese Department and co-organized by the Institute of Policy and Culture of Central University (Japan), was held at SFS on March 29, 2019.
The forum was jointly initiated by Prof. Li Yannan, Head of the Japanese Department, and Prof. Hirooka Shougang from the Institute of Policy and Culture, Central University of Japan. Ten professors and experts on Japanese culture presented their research. They were representatives from Japan's Central University and Kobe Women's University, China's Jilin University, Sun-Yat-Sen University, Central China Normal University, Xiamen University, and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies. In addition to the faculty members and the students from the Japanese Department, those from dozens of other domestic institutions, including South China University of Technology, Guangdong Ocean University, Hainan Normal University, participated actively in the discussions.
The presentations were mainly focused on the study of modern Japanese literature, covering topics like the research methodology of modern Japanese literature, the image of Lu Xun in the works of Takeuchi, the study of Japanese writers such as Kawabata Yasunari, Miyazawa Kenji and Moriaki Kazuyoshi. Issues concerning national consciousness, family relationships, media power and Japanese texts recorded in Chinese characters were also explored.
